AIDFA Summit 2016 to focus on technological innovations

The Aid & International Development Forum Africa (AIDFA) Summit 2016 holding in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, will focus on technological innovations and best practice to improve aid delivery and development strategy in East Africa, ITRealms reports.

The summit which will take place between February 2 to 3, at the United Nations Conference Centre, will play host to more than 250 senior representatives and advisors from regional governments, UN agencies, international and regional NGOs, CBOs, investors and donors, research institutes and the private sector.

The AIDF, ITRealms gathered, has been building long-lasting partnerships between key actors in the humanitarian and development sectors for over 13 years. The agenda has been developed in consultation with key organisations, such as WFP, IRFC, World Vision, USAID, UNICEF, World Bank, Save the Children, UN Habitat, CRS, FHI360, Oxfam, Habitat for Humanity International, IRD and will include case studies, panel discussions, workshops, and interactive roundtable sessions.

According to a press release by AIDF, the summit will provide comprehensive overview of the latest trends around humanitarian logistics, community health, security of aid workers and communities, camp management, mobile for development, financing, communication with communities and among aid agencies.

The unique event format combines high level strategic information with multiple specialist topic tracks and structured networking as well as peer-to peer round table discussions enabling full and frank sharing of views, experience and vital feedback within the community.

Notable speakers at the event, ITRealms learnt, include the Resident Representative, UNDP Kenya & Resident Coordinator of the United Nations system in Kenya, Nardos Bekele-Thomas; Chief of the Data Technology Section at the Africa Centre for Statistics, UN Economic Commission for Africa, Dr Chukwudozie Ezigbalike; Director of Global Innovation Centre, UNICEF, Dr Sharad Sapra; Regional Humanitarian and Emergency Affairs Director (RHEAD), World Vision (Kenya) Christopher Hoffman; Head of Zone Logistics Unit, Africa, International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) Rishi Ramrakha, and many others.
