Sulaiman leads 7-man BoD of Lagos Angel Network



The retired Country Managing Director of Accenture, Mr. Adedotun Sulaiman has been named as the chairman of the Lagos Angel Network (LAN) 7-man board of directors, reports ITRealms.

This was one of the outcomes of the inaugural meeting of the Board of Directors made up of seasoned industry experts and professionals.

Sulaiman who is a renowned management consultant and expert in organizational development, enterprise transformation and business process reengineering retired from Accenture in 2005 and currently chairs the board of several companies with a major emphasis on the emerging electronic payments industry and companies in the entrepreneurial stage. 

Also, the Executive Vice Chairman of Signal Alliance Limited, Mr. Collins Onuegbu was named the Director in charge of Partnership & Sponsorship. Onuegbu is the founder of Signal Alliance Limited, a leading player the Nigerian technology industry.  He is also founder of SASWARE, a technology investment company that provides seed investment to early stage startups in the technology industry. 

Others are Messrs David Richards, Dipo Adebo, Tokunboh Ishmael, Segun Olukoya and Tomi Davies.

ITRealms recalls that David Richards named Director, Memberships is a professional banker with several decades of experience across Africa. He co-founded Midas Merchant Bank and was its first Managing Director and was also the first Finance Director of the Niger Delta Exploration Company a position he held until his retirement in 2008.  He is a specialist in raising venture capital for the manufacturing, mining, and oil and gas industries.  

Mr Dipo Adebo was given the responsibility on board to direct network’s processes, procedures and compliance with best practices. He is a respected architect and founder of DAA Architects, which specializes in hospitality and retail design who has undertaken several major hotel management chains including Accor, Golden Tulip, Rezidor, and Hilton.

Equaly, Mr Tokunboh Ishmael was given the responsibility for the network’s Financial Management practices is a co-founder and Managing Director of Alitheia Capital, an investment management and advisory firm. She has advised on several acquisitions and also successfully raised over USD50m in funding in her previous roles as Managing Director of Avante Capital  and Country Partner for Aureos Capital.
 
Joining the board as programme director is Mr. Segun Olukoya with responsibility for co-ordinating the LAN Secretariat. He is a partner and member of the founding team at Nextzon Business Services who specialises in corporate and competitive strategy development, business planning and setting up with a focus on corporate governance and organizational restructuring. He is a member of the Investment Committee of the Vantage Guaranteed Income Fund and also sits on the Board of One Credit Limited.
 
’Tomi Davies is the Director responsible for Awareness, Education and International Relations. He is the founder of TVC Labs, a technology business incubation organisation and has been involved in the world of information and communications technologies for over 30 years. He sits on the Boards of various companies including Sproxil Nigeria, Baas Online Properties, MBO Capital, Strika Entertainment, TechnoVision Communications, MoMo Academy and PeoplePrime. He is also the founding President of the African Business Angel Network (ABAN).  

Commenting on this development, the chairman of the board, Mr Sulaiman, noted they have pulled together a unique team of pioneers who will bring their knowledge, practical experience, passion and networks to support the realisation of LAN mission. 

“We are in this for the long haul and have no doubt that our efforts will lead to the emergence of several transformational Nigerian businesses that will go on to become pan African champions in their chosen fields,” he said.

A press statement from Moses Briamah says the Lagos Angel Network (LAN) is a “not for profit” entity that was formally incorporated in May 2015. It has been set up for the purpose of organizing individual Business Angels to collectively invest in the most promising start-up businesses in Lagos.  It is the first organised members’ only network in Nigeria specifically created to provide entrepreneurs with funding, mentoring and access to business networks. 

Additionally, he said, LAN is also member of the Global Business Angels Network and the National Lead Member for Nigeria.
