ITRealms:
Acclaimed leading Nigerian bank, Diamond Bank Plc, has refuted a media report alleging
the bank is distressed, describing it as false and malicious, ITRealms reports.
The Head, Corporate Communications Division, Mrs. Ayona Trimnell, Diamond
Bank in a press statement made available to ITRealms refuted the report attributed
to Sahara Reporters, maintaining that Diamond Bank is healthy and meets its
financial obligations as required by the regulatory body.
According to her, the attention of the bank has been drawn to a malicious story published by Sahara Reporters alleging that Diamond Bank Plc is one of nine commercial banks that have demonstrated a level of distress which demands the bank recapitalizes to full-blown distress.
“Our customers, stakeholders and indeed the general public should please disregard the said report and be informed that the story is false, baseless, mischievous and attention seeking. Diamond Bank’s Q3 2015 result approved by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) show capital adequacy ratio of 18 per cent, which is 3 per cent higher than CBN’s minimum requirement,” Mrs. Trimnell said.
Diamond Bank, she also said, would
like anyone in doubt to check out its third-quarter (Q3) 2015 financial results
which could be found at the bank’s official website.
She recollected that recently, the
Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) issued a statement denouncing the same falsehood
by Sahara Reporters, as the apex bank assured that no Bank in Nigeria is facing
stress as alleged by the Sahara Reporters.
