The Special Adviser to the Lagos
State Governor on Central Business Districts (CBD), Mr. Agboola Dabiri, has said
that there is an improvement in traffic situation on Lagos Island CBD, reports
ITRealms.
Speaking during the visit of members
of the Lagos State House of Assembly Committee on CBD to his office at Alausa, Dabiri
attributed this to the relentless efforts of personnel and cooperation of all
stakeholders.
He also said the implementation of a
strategic plan to improve traffic situation on the Island by the State
Government has led to a drastic reduction in traffic gridlock in places like
Apongbon, Broad Street and Nnamdi Azikwe.
The Special Adviser stated that
“everything is being done to ensure that man hours wasted in traffic by
Lagosians who throng various markets in the CBD area on daily basis to transact
lawful business are drastically reduced”.
He said enormous resources have been
committed by Government to make CBD work, and that personnel have had to work
round the clock, throughout the Yuletide and beyond and therefore called for
support and cooperation of everyone, especially by abiding by rules and
regulations guiding CBD.
Responding to request for meaningful
inputs and contribution of the House of Assembly to the course of CBD, the
Chairman House Committee on CBD, Hon. Victor Olusegun Akande commended the
Special Adviser for “his doggedness and mastery of the enormous challenges
facing CBD as well as his strong commitment to make things work, despite the
odds”.
“You have done well and God will
continue to rekindle your strength and energy to achieve enormous success in
the desire to turn CBD around for the better”, Akande said.
He hinted that the House is working
assiduously to back the CBD and that no stone would be left unturned in the
quest for the fulfilment of the State Government Policy for CBD, adding that
the Committee would embark on tour of the CBD area to ascertain areas of need
that will eventually lead to the desired development as observed in developed
countries.
