ITU takes ICT regulators to Egypt for symposium

The International Telecommunication Union (ITU) has concluded plans this year to take its prestigious annual Global Symposium for Regulators (GSR) to Egypt, reports ITRealms.
GSR 2016, ITRealms gathered is the world’s pre-eminent assembly of the global Information and Communication Technology (ICT) regulatory community.
ITU in a press statement made available to ITRealms says it decided to take GSR slated between May 11 and14 2016, at the Red Sea Resort of Sharm el-Sheikh at the invitation of the Government of Egypt,

The GSR-16, ITRealms reports would welcome world-class speakers with a dynamic programme focused around the theme of ‘Be Empowered, Be Included: Building Blocks for Smart Societies in a Connected World’. 

ITRealms further gathered that the symposium would be chaired by Mostafa Abd El-Wahed, Acting Chairman of the National Telecommunication Regulatory Authority of Egypt (NTRA).
Equally, ITRealms recalls that ITU is the leading United Nations agency for information and communication technologies, driving innovation in ICTs together with 193 Member States and a membership of over 700 private sector entities and academic institutions.
Established over 150 years ago in 1865, ITU is the intergovernmental body responsible for coordinating the shared global use of the radio spectrum, promoting international cooperation in assigning satellite orbits, improving communication infrastructure in the developing world, and establishing the worldwide standards that foster seamless interconnection of a vast range of communications systems.
