A set of transgender boys have cried out over denied of
access to use the right bathrooms based on their current status, reports
ITRealms.
Reports reaching our news desk at ITRealms, revealed that
some set of trans-gender boys in Hillsbourough country in the United States are
now under anguish as they could not access either the right bathrooms or locker
rooms.
One of the transgender boys who identified himself as Austin
Wakefield from Tampa Florida, said in a petition registered on Change.org, an
online parity advocacy group, said that him and his colleagues in transgender
business are being denied the right to use the appropriate bathrooms, locker-rooms
and even common in a public school.
According to Austin, “I am a transgender student. There are
many of us in Hillsborough County schools, and not only do we face constant
harassment for being - Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender -(LGBT), we are
not even allowed to use the restroom that feels most natural to us. This is
wrong -- it disrupts our education, and puts us at risk of violent bullying if
we go against this dehumanizing policy.”
For Austin, “The tide is turning toward acceptance and
tolerance. In January, nearby Pine View School became the first in our area to
create a positive bathroom policy for transgender students, allowing them to
use the bathrooms of the gender they identify with. I am imploring Hillsborough
County schools to follow suit, and stop the transphobic and discriminatory
practice of barring transgender students from using the bathroom of their
choice.”
He insisted that “It is a matter of civil rights. Please
join me in asking Superintendent Jeff Eakins and all Hillsborough County School
District administrators to do what’s right, and move forward with plans to
adopt a policy allowing transgender students to use the bathroom they identify
with.
“Progress is being made in Hillsborough County. This time
last year, a bill was under consideration that would have made the use of a
restroom that did not match the gender a person was assigned at birth illegal,
and punishable by a $1,000 fine and up to one year in jail. I am thrilled to
say that this dangerous bill is now dead, and the Hillsborough County School
District is now drafting a proposed bathroom policy like the one at Pine View
School.
"I feel it is my duty to nudge them. The changes at Pine View
School were brought about by one transgender student who had been a victim of
bullying over this very same issue. He took a stand, against so much contempt
and opposition, and made this amazing change happen. I know that I must follow
his lead and take up the cause for my school and the entire district of
Hillsborough.
“The fight isn’t over yet. Please join me in urging
Hillsborough County School District administrators to make it official, and
adopt a policy allowing transgender students to use the bathroom they identify
with,” Austin pleaded.
