All
is now set for the two-day 2016 Nigeria DigitalSENSE Forum on Internet
Governance for Development (IG4D) and Nigeria IPv6 Roundtable, commencing tomorrow,
Thursday, June 2 through Friday,
June 3, at the Digital Bridge Institute, former NITEL Training School, Cappa
Oshodi-Lagos.
Confirming
this, the Executive Director, Operations, DigitalSENSE Africa Media, the
organisers of forum, Mrs. Nkemdilim Nweke, declared that all is set for the this
year’s two-day forum to be chaired by the President of the Nigeria Computer
Society (NCS), Prof. Adesola Aderounmu who will be exploring his agenda for the
larger Nigerian society through the Nigeria DigitalSENSE Forum series.
Mrs Nweke pointed out that Nigeria
DigitalSENSE Forum series which is on its 8th edition has remained a
distinguished annual rallying point for Internet stakeholders in the country, with
this year’s themes, focusing on ‘Internet Governance: Creating Opportunities
for All Nigerians’ on Day 1, whereas the Day 2 is the Nigeria IPV6 Roundtable would
be on ‘Creating Opportunities for Nigerians with IPv6’ in commemoration of the
World IPv6 Day 2016.
According
to her, the Honorable Minister for Communication, Barr. Adebayo Shittu, Executive
Vice Chairman (EVC) Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) Prof. Umar Garba
Danbatta, Senior Special Assistant (SSA) Job Creation and Youth Empowerment to
the Vice President, Afolabi Imoukhuede, acting DG, NITDA, Dr. Vincent Olatunji,
and DG, Debt Management Office, Dr. Abraham Nwankwo among others, would be leading
guests and discussions at the two-day forum under the chairmanship of
President, NCS, Prof. Adesola Aderounmu; as some of the confirmed keynote
speakers.
Aderounmu,
she said, is a professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering,
Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Fellow of Nigeria Computer Society,
Registered Professional Engineer with Council for Regulation of Engineering in
Nigeria (COREN) to name a few.
DigitalSENSE
Africa Media, she noted, is an At-Large Structure certified by the Internet
Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) and organizes this annual
forum in collaboration with the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC),
National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), Galaxy Backbone and
National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) among others.
She
also said, DigitalSENSE Africa is a team of internationally reputed and
award-winning Information and Communication Technology (ICT) industry analysts
and perception managers; professionally affiliated to African Regional At-Large
Organisation (AFRALO) for shaping the future of the Internet, African Civil
Society for the Information Society (ACSIS), as well as the media caucus of
African Information Society Initiative (AISI) of the United Nations Economic
Commission for Africa (UNECA), etcetera.
