Backlash of cancelled protest: Nigerians lampoon 2Baba online

Top leading Nigerian Hip Hop artiste, Innocent Dibia alias 2Baba or 2Face is at the receiving end since the video of his cancellation of the proposed anti-government protest, reports ITRealms.

The protest initially slated for Monday, February 6, 2017, ITRealms reports, was supposed to be in response to what the planners termed ‘bad governance in Nigeria.’

Since 2Face expressed desire to protest, his profile across all platforms, including WhatsApp, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram to name a few, has gone up.

However, as soon as 2Face announced the cancellation via a 57-seconds video said the protest was called off due to Police alleged report that hoodlums will hijack the protest, stressing the protest does not require the blood of anybody or Nigerian, it has been a bucket of mixed reactions.

Reacting to the cancellation by 2Face, some of his fans lashed out, calling him names. While described 2Face withdrawal as ‘sad,’ others, said he is a ‘coward’.

For some, 2Face has been used by the political elites and will eventually be dumped sooner than later.

“He should have been our ‘hero’ but now 2Face is zero,” one of 2Face fan retorted.

In the words of Reuben Abati, in special piece entitled “The Two Faces Of Tuface” noted that Tuface’s decision to lead a protest to register the dissatisfaction of Nigerians with the performance of the incumbent administration and to reiterate the value of government’s responsibility to the people was his finest moment as a citizen and artiste.

“But it is also now, with his Jammeh-like volte-face, his worst moment. His transformation into a champion of democratic values and voice of the masses brought him added stardom and value. His retreat has turned him into a revolutionary manqué. He deserves our understanding and sympathy,” he said.
