NIRA, KeNIC partner on registry relationship, sign MOU

The management of two African leading registries, the Nigeria Internet Registration Association (NiRA), and the Kenya Network Information Centre (KeNIC), have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to make the relationship of their registrars easily accessible, reports ITRealms.

While NIRA is the managers of .NG country code Top Level Domain, KeNIC is the managers of .ke ccTLD.

Disclosing this to ITRealms, the President of NIRA, Rev. Sunday Folayan, in a joint press statement said he and KeNIC chief executive officer, Mr. Abdalla Omari endorsed the MoU on behalf of their respective organisations, last week Tuesday.

The signing, he also said, took place as sideline event at the just concluded ICANN Government Advisory Committee (GAC) which took place in Nairobi, Kenya.

He pointed out that the MOU specifies the mutual rights and obligations of the parties to foster a working Registry Relationship to enable Accredited Registrars under both Registries to provide Registrar services and associated services for prospective applicants cum registrant.

“The MOU parties warrant that Accreditation of registrars either under the NiRA and KENIC registries is deemed sufficient for the provision of registrar services with NiRA and KENIC and registrars shall not be required to undergo the accreditation process under the respective registry to provide registrar services,” he underscored.

Even as he highlighted that the cooperation will give NiRA Accredited Registrars the opportunity to register domain names directly in the Kenyan Registry, pay in their local currency and vice versa. The MOU should boost the quantity of domain names registered at both registries and also have a positive impact on the domain name business in Africa.

“Nigerians will be able to register (locally) domains such as amasi.ke, fola.ke, aji.ke, nwazuri.ke, asha.ke, tinu.ke, uzodi.ke, fun.ke, ki.ke, chigo.ke, ron.ke, rola.ke, ugho.ke, adeni.ke, olani.ke etc which are all within the Kenyan name spaces” he enthused.

Maintaining that the Nigerian ccTLD (.NG) is open to the entire world, hence many Nigerian domain names, such necessarily Nigerian entities should ensure they are on .NG.

The signing ceremony was witnessed by key players within the African and Global Internet Community, including the President/CEO of ICANN Goran Marby, Internet Pioneer - Prof. Nii Quaynor, representing the African Internet Community, Immediate Past President NIRA – Mrs. Mary Uduma, NIRA Board of Trustees member – Emmanuel Edet, NIRA's Financial Secretary – Sikiru Shehu, NiRA's Chief Operating Officer Edith Udeagu and AFRINIC Board/ICANN ALAC member Seun Ojedeji.

Those who wish to have a Christ-centered post secondary education experience have to make a few more decisions about the next step in their education than the average student. Any decision regarding one's future is always considerably stressful, but those seeking a deeper Christian to complement their educational experience might feel a little more pressure when it comes to making a decision.http://www.how-todo.xyz/
