The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) team from the Lagos Zonal Operations, has taken the Year of Telecom Consumer campaign to market and motor park in Kuto, Abeokuta, reports ITRealms.
The event, ITRealms gathered, attracted a wide spectrum of market men and women, motor park administrators and civil servants as well as their leaders, travellers and passers-by.
For the Zonal Controller, Lagos Operations, Mr. Kenneth Uzoekwe, who represented the Executive Vice Chairman/CEO of NCC, Professor Umar Garba Danbatta, told participants that the Year of Telecom Consumer campaign was launched by the Commission in March 2017, following the declaration of this year, 2017, as year of telecom consumer.
This, he said, demonstrated NCC's commitment to amplifying her regulatory activities towards ensuring that telecoms consumers enjoy services that not only meet but exceed their expectations.
Also, Uzoekwe said consumers have the rights to be informed, protected and empowered, hence NCC enlightens them on Do-Not-Disturb (DND) 2442 Short Code dedicated for the consumers to have full control over unsolicited messages.
He equally used the opportunity to create awareness over 622 Toll Free complaint management number which consumers could use to report to NCC any challenge experienced in service provision which have not been satisfactorily addressed by service providers.
Additionally, participants were guided via Consumer Education on ElectroMagnetic Fields (EMF) radiation from telecom Base Transceiver Stations and emerging trends in electronic banking fraud, among others.
