The chairman, Board of Directors, Internet Corporation for
Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN), Dr. Steve Crocker made this disclosure at
the session by the Africa Regional At-Large Organisation (AFRALO) at the
ongoing ICANN59 public meeting in Johannesburg, South Africa, on Monday.
Crocker, a long standing member of the Internet development
described it as a bit complicated and complex especially novice.
He noted that with the ICANN community there are sets of
people who daily contribute to the development of the Internet and how it works
including the AFRINIC, and Internet Service Providers (ISPs).
As said by him, one of the unique aspect of the internet
development is that from onset, it has remained open unlike the development of
telephone.
This openness, he said, has helped the Internet to evolve to
the most adoptable need of the people and end-users.
