Speakers unveiled for Nigeria Innovation Summit'17

The Nigeria Innovation Summit (NIS), an international annual event that promotes innovation in Nigeria is set to once again gather stakeholders across all sectors of Nigeria's economy to share ideas, trends, and opportunities around technology, innovation and entrepreneurship development.

The Summit scheduled to hold on September 7, 2017 at Sheraton Hotel, Ikeja, Lagos, with the theme: Transforming Nigeria's Economy Through Technology, Innovation and Entrepreneurship, has received confirmed participation from some states of the federation, namely; Benue, Katsina, Anambra and Bayelsa States. They will have the opportunity to showcase and promote their innovations at the Summit.

Mr. Kenneth Omeruo, MD/CEO, Emerging Media and organisers of the Summit said “All is set for this year's event as Innovations in Health, FinTech, EduTech, Open Innovation takes centre stage. We have assembled young Nigerian innovators across these sectors, who are making the country proud through their innovative solutions as speakers and panellists. This year's speakers are young, passionate and are already making the country proud through their innovative businesses and organisations”

Some of the 2017 speakers include: Davis Cook, CEO, Research Institute for Innovation and Sustainability(RIIS) South Africa; Dr Muntaqa Umar-Sadiq, the 2016 World Economic Forum young global leader and the CEO, Private Sector Health Alliance; Chris Uwaje, Director, Delta State Innovation Hub; Prof Bongo Adi, senior lecturer at Lagos Business School; Gossy Ukanwoke, Founder BAU R&D; Kola Aina, CEO Ventures Platform; Kendall Ananyi, CEO Tiketi; Celestine Achi, CEO Cihan Group; Sam Bhattacharyya, CEO, Dot Learn; Temie Giwa-Tubosun, CEO, LifeBank; Shola Akinlade, CEO Paystack; Bankole Oloruntoba, Founder Enspire Incubator; Kaosiso Anaekwe, CEO EduBridge Consultants; and Adenike Akinsemolu, Founder Green Institute.

Ahmadu Univeristy Zaria will lead delegates from institutions and other research centres who will be showcasing their innovations at the Summit.

Also speaking about the summit, Mr. Tony Ajah, the Director of Nigeria Innovation Summit (www.innovationsumit.ng), said "Expect quality presentations and workshops at this year's summit. Davis Cook CEO RIIS South Africa will deliver the keynote that will focus on building open innovation ecosystem in Nigeria and connecting Nigerian innovators to South Africa innovation ecosystem," he said.

"The expected delegates for the Summit are Government Representatives, International Organisations, Investors, Business leaders, CEOs of Companies and Organisations, Innovators, Academics, Start-ups and Entrepreneurs. The Summit Sessions will cover sub-topics as: How to transform the challenging economy in Nigeria through Technology, Innovation and Entrepreneurship; How Nigeria can build a sustainable Innovation Ecosystem and become more Innovative; Exploring the Concept of Open Innovation; Innovation in Telecommunications, Infrastructure Development and the Mobile Ecosystem; Innovation through Emerging Technologies.

Top decision makers across the Nigerian economy and international participants are expected to attend this year’s Summit. And the Summit offers organizations and businesses great platform to showcase their product and services”
