Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) is seeking a volunteer
to serve as a mentor for the Global Indigenous Ambassador Programme during its
forthcoming public meeting tagged ICANN61 holding in San Juan,
Puerto Rico, reports ITRealms.
ICANN, ITRealms gathered proclaimed the
creation of the Global Indigenous Ambassador Programme in June 2017.
ITRealms reports that the programme
establishes two Indigenous Ambassadors, which will be selected from
underrepresented indigenous communities, as well as one mentor, who must apply
before 8 January, 2018.
This, ICANN said, would be done through
the inclusion of a broader and more diverse base of knowledgeable constituents,
pointing out that ICANN will be better equipped to support the next generation
of the global Internet community.
Therefore, ICANN said, its now
accepting applications for anyone interested in serving as a mentor for the two
Global Indigenous Ambassadors during ICANN61.
Mentors must be familiar with ICANN
and At-Large, and have been active in one of the constituencies. Mentors must
also meet a number of criteria
and follow the requirements for coaches as described in the ICANN Fellowship handbook [docs.google.com].
The selected mentor will receive
travel and hotel accommodations, as well as a per diem, for ICANN61 in San
Juan, Puerto Rico, which will be held from 10-15 March 2018.
