Social crusader and telecommunications engineer, Mr. Titi Omo-Ettu has bemoaned the rate
of bastardizing the Nigeria’s national anthem and tasked the Federal Government
over ensuring sanity in the lyrics, reports ITRealms.
Omo-Ettu who made his position known to ITRealms, condemned the multiplicity of
national anthem rhythms by various music artistes, wondered if Nigerians
actually pay attention to the various versions.
“I'm just wondering if we are all paying attention to the
manner our National
Anthem is being rendered in various musical versions. I thought a Nation's
anthem, its style and lyrics, is an identity which is firm, fixed and
incontestable,” he said.
Omo-Ettu also urged Nigerians to always pay attention
whenever they attend a few cream of society events.
“… And you would think our anthem is still undergoing
construction by contestants on which version is to be adopted, a few of the solo-singers
talking through their noses as if they are foreigners,” he said.
Therefore, Omo-Ettu, tasked the Minister of Information and
Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed to consider sensitizing Nigerians on this matter,
which has become embarrassing.
“I hope Mr Lai Mohammed is not too busy with cattle, violence
and murder issues to listen,” he urged.
Expressing excitement that the National Assembly (NAS) has not deviated from
using the correction version and call on other Ministries, Departments and
Agencies (MDAs) to emulate NAS.
“Thank God our National Assembly uses the correct version. I
was there yesterday and it was played to my delight,” he asserted.
