The Lagos State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists,
NUJ, heartily congratulates Prof. Olatunji Dare, Raymond Ekpu and others on the
Diamond Award for media Excellence,DAME, Lifetime Awards, reports ITREALMS.
The Council in a press statement endorsed by the chairman, Dr.
Qasim Akinreti and Secretary, Mr. Odifa Alfred, described the award as a
deserving honour to journalists known for their outstanding contributions to
the growth of Journalism in Nigeria.
The Union noted that Raymond Ekpu was a former President of
the Newspapers Proprietors Association of Nigeria, NPAN, former Editor Nigerian
Chronicle, Sunday Times, National Concord and founding father of Newswatch
Magazine.
Prof. Olatunji Dare on the other hand was a Mass
Communicator guru, lecturer and columnist, who have distinguished himself and
brought uncommon honour to journalism practice In Nigeria and beyond.
The Union believed the lifetime award, the highest honour
for communication professionals will serve as a positive role models to young
Journalists.
In the same vein, the Union congratulates other recipients
of the awards, sixteen living legend and eight deceased men.
