Goodbye to Google +1 buttons - ITREALMS

American multinational technology company, Google LLC, has deactivated its +1 buttons globally, reports ITREALMS.

Google+, ITREALMS recalls is pronounced and sometimes written as Google Plus, and is an Internet-based social network owned and operated by Google since June 28, 2011 in an attempt to challenge other social networks such as Facebook and Twitter and designed to link Google's products. G+ which garnered some 111 million users as at 2015 was created by the duo of Vic Gundotra, and Bradley Horowitz using Java Script.

The company considered as one of the top-4 technology companies, alongside Amazon, Apple and Facebook, confirmed to ITREALMS that it has removed the +1 buttons.

“The +1/G+ buttons and Google+ share links below blog posts and in the navigation bar will be removed,” officials declared in a press statement available to ITREALMS.

This follows the earlier announcement of Google+ Application Programming Interface (API) deprecation scheduled for March 2019, pointing out that a number of changes will be made to Blogger’s Google+ integration on 4 February 2019.

This, the tech company explained entails that “Google+ widgets: Support for the “+1 Button”, “Google+ Followers” and “Google+ Badge” widgets in Layout will no longer be available,” and all instances of these widgets will be removed from blogs.

Google further advised those with a custom template that includes Google+ features, to update their template by contacting their template supplier for advice.

“Google+ Comments: Support for Google+ comments will be turned down, and all blogs using Google+ comments will be reverted back to using Blogger comments. Unfortunately, comments posted as Google+ comments cannot be migrated to Blogger and will no longer appear on your blog,” the company advised users of Blogger platform.
