The representative for Isuikwuato-Umunneochi Federal Constituency of Abia State and All Progressive Congress (APC Abia) stalwart, Hon. Nkeiruka Onyejeocha has declared interest for the post of the Speaker in the 9th Federal House of Representatives, reports ITREALMS.
Hon. Onyejeocha who would be returning to the house for the fourth time in the 9th Assembly is currently the Chairman, House Committee on Aviation.
She is the only female contestant who has made her intention known on Monday in Abuja.
Onyejeocha, ITREALMS gathered, said that she is in the race to improve lawmaking and to help advance the party’s developmental policies.
As said by her, legislative oversight will be given priority attention to ensure effective policy and budget implementation.
“If elected speaker, I would improve the communications among members of the house and the general public,” she said.
Assuring that she plans to adopt a legislative agenda with clear framework for compliance and monitoring.
In addition, she promised to strengthen house committees and processes in the interest of growing democracy.
