The government of Plateau State is working towards having some 5,000 startups, at the least by 2021, reports ITREALMS.
This was disclosed to ITREALMS in a chat by the Director-General of the Plateau State Information Technology Development Agency (PITDA) Mr. Daser David in Lagos on the sideline of the 2019 West Africa Convergence Conference (WACC) hosted by Knowhow Media International Limited and publishers of ITEdge.com.
He also said that impact of technology cannot be over-emphasised especially in the area of job creation and preparing the Plateau youths for global competitiveness.
David, who had extensive experience in hub management having led the foundation of N-Hub, said talents are abound in the state and PITDA under his watch will explore every means possible for more inroads by increasing the available workforce.
With the support of the state governor, Mr. Simon Lalong, PITDA, he said, will strike the relevant partnership both locally and internationally, although they are already working with the likes of Facebook and Google.
This partnership, he said, needs to be deepened to have the kind of effect the agency envisioned for the state.
PITDA target, he said is to have about 5,000 startups which will enable the injection of more funds and bolster the economy of the state, stressing that across the state 17 Local Government Areas, there exist, at least a hub.
According to David, with the support of the Local Government chairmen who are desirous of solving the problem of unemployment, this target is achievable.
