An Adamawa State based journalist, Tom Garba has raised alarm over his life following a death threat he received in a phone conversation, at the weekend, from a suspected close allay of the Adamawa State Governor, Rt Hon Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, reports ITREALMS.

Garba who has been practicing in Adamawa State in the last nine years, said he has never faced such a threat before.

ITREALMS gathered that Garba reports for the Nigerian Tribune and also runs an online media, TGnews.com.ng.

The audio made available to ITREALMS, Garba said he received the death threat during a phone conversation with one Steven Maduwa who warned him that if he ever writes anything ‘good or bad’ about the Fintiri-led administration that he (Maduwa) would personally deal with him.

Maduwa was quoted in the audio as saying “If you ever write anything about Fintiri, whether good or bad. Record me; I will deal with you personally. I will deal with you physically. I will cut your throat if you write anything about Fintiri whether good or bad.”

According to Garba, “I want the general public to be aware that as certified journalist who has worked in Adamawa State in the last nine years, my life is in danger because of the death threat from Steven Maduwa.”
