The Anambra Patriots has condemned the closing of the State Polytechnic
indefinitely by the APGA led government after students of the institution
protested against non accreditation of courses and failure to mobilize
graduated students for the mandatory NYSC .
A press release through the group's Media Centre in Awka, the group decried a situation where the Governor's children enjoy world class education in choice universities abroad while he is insensitive to an institution that grooms children of the commoners and tax payers in the society .
The statement further described as unfortunate the failure of the governor in addressing issues raised by the students during their peaceful protest match to Government House rather the obviously failed Agu Awka administration which has lost touch with the masses decided to deepen the concerns of the students and parents with the clampdown.

It is our position that rather than closing this
institution it should re - structured as a technology incubator for our state
and Country at a time the society is faced with unemployment and under
employment related crisis.
The anti people action shows clearly that the
APGA led government in the state is yet to understand the way to go in line
with global best practices and accreditation benchmark which well meaning state
owned government institutions have long ago keyed into.
The Patriots wishes to pass a vote of no confidence on the APGA led government in the state and condemn the shutting down of the institution in its entirety as against solving issues advanced by the aggrieved students and their parents.

The patriots questions the essence of having a
higher institution that cannot graduate students due to non accreditation of
courses and subjecting the students and their parents to investing huge
resources into an institution whose courses are not accredited.
The group describes as unfortunate that while
Governor Obiano who practically moved the entire State Government to United
States (USA), to celebrate his daughter's graduation from one of the best rated
Universities is here sabotaging an institution attended by children of poor
taxpayers .
Anambra Patriots is by this medium calling on
the state House of Assembly as representatives of the people, to intervene in
this matter of public interest, equity and social justice.
It is worrisome that the governor and the
government have enmeshed themselves in frivolous activities at the expense of
people oriented governance which is the primary purpose for their election.
