Abba Kyari: Nigerians berate FG over burial arrangement, demand answers – ITREALMS

Since the death and announcement of the passage of former Chief of Staff (CoS) to Mr. President, late Malam Abba Kyari, and his subsequent interment Saturday morning, the social media has been agog with avalanche of complaints over his finale rites arrangement by the Federal Government, reports ITREALMS.

Top on issues and conspicuous was the lack of self-distancing at the burial and number of crowd that graced the burial at Gudu Cemetery in Abuja.

ITREALMS recalls that the number of people at his grave side were over 50 persons with some not even putting on face mask, while the self-distance rule was not adhered to.
Also making are series of unanswered questions from Nigerians, some of which included that the late COS was on a trip to Germany and refused to self-isolate after he came back thus violating the protocols set by the World Health Organisation (WHO)?

A medical practitioner who speaks on anonymity, also asked that on testing positive for COVID-19, “he was first managed in Abuja in a private setting then taken to Lagos (First Consultant Cardiology Hospital) for continued care which is not a Government approved isolation or treatment centre, of which the Health Minister, had earlier told Nigerians that “Private Hospital were not allowed to manage COVID-19 patients?

In addition, he argued that despite that Mr. Kyari died yesterday (Friday) he was flown into Abuja this morning for burial rites which also contravenes the WHO model for burial of COVID-19 patients? Wondering why this was done?
However, on arrival in Abuja, ITREALMS gathered that his corpse was taken to Defence House and prayers were offered. This, the medical practitioner described as an absurd because the Federal Government had "since banned crowd and gathering such as a Friday prayer for Muslims and Sunday Church services for the Christians."

He insisted that the crowd at the burial ground does not only negate the social distancing that FG and governments at all levels have been preaching, let alone when a victim is involved, and decried the number of high profile government officials at the programme.

ITREALMS recalls that recently Prof A.K. Salami, a Senior Consultant with the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital (UITH) was suspended for inadvertently releasing a suspected COVID-19 patient corpse to the family, even as the respondent medical practitioner, insisted that WHO protocol for burial of COVID-19 patients is very clear, which was not adhered by those who supposed to know better including Ministers of the Federal Government the interment of Abba Kyari.
