COVID-19: Lagos records 15,150, 194 deaths - ITREALMS

ITREALMS:

Lagos State has recorded a total of 15,150 confirmed cases of Coronavirus also known as COVID-19, while recording 194 deaths, reports
ITREALMS.

The Incident Commander, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, made this disclosure in his 17th update on Coronavirus in Lagos, Saturday.
ITREALMS gathered that as at Friday July 31, 2020, Lagos State, he said, has had a total of 15,150 confirmed cases of Covid-19.

Out of this figure, Sanwo-Olu said that 10,835 persons who have recovered and been discharged.

“We have sadly now lost 194 persons to the virus,” he decried, stressing that this left the state with 1,813 active cases in community and 96 under management across various isolation centers in the State.
ITREALMS also gathered that it has now been some five months since the first index case of Coronavirus was recorded in Nigeria.

Gov. Sanwo-Olu pointed out that since then, Nigeria has seen over 43,000 infections, and a significant disruption of social, religious, educational and economic life, like every other part of the world.

Equally, he said, Lagos State remains the epicenter of the pandemic in Nigeria, but expressed optimism that they “have set a national example in terms of the efficiency of our testing, tracing, treatment, and our partnerships with the private sector and the Federal Government. Most of our patients in Lagos recover under our supervision.”

Lagos, he further said, now have two pathways through which confirmed cases are managed.

“Either through our Home-Based Strategy, or in designated COVID Care Centres. Those people in the Home Care category are being supported medically with our COVID Care Packs, and psychologically through our counselling teams available via our Call Centre 08000CORONA,” the incident commander explained.
