The International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) has concluded plans to host Green Hydrogen webinar with target on policy making, reports ITREALMS.
The event, ITREALMS gathered is coming as part of the IRENA Policy Talks 2020 webinar series, thereby replacing the 6th Policy Day, thus, IRENA Policy Talks 2020 provide a forum for renewable energy policy discussions where experiences and best practices in policy design and implementation can be shared to support the efficient deployment of renewable energy, and the maximisation of the benefits realised.
The Policy Talks generate feedback from IRENA Member States, policy makers and experts, which provides key input to support IRENA’s implementation of the Work Programme in the policy realm, to ensure relevance and accuracy.
The second Policy Talk will be an occasion to present the findings of IRENA's new report, Green Hydrogen: A Guide to Policy Making: on Thursday, 19 November 2020 at 14:00 CET
Experts noted that high production costs and lack of dedicated infrastructure are some of the more important barriers faced by green hydrogen.
"Transitioning green hydrogen from a niche player to a widespread energy carrier will require an integrated policy approach to overcome the initial resistance and reach a minimum threshold for market penetration.
"Using the findings of the new report, this Policy Talk will focus on the barriers and the policies needed to kick-start the green hydrogen sector, bridging the gap between commitment and action. Expert panellists and private sector representatives will discuss the key elements for progressive policy making. Interventions from policy makers will also be made to share experiences and best practices."
