The Executive Governor of Delta State, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, would be in the ring with his counterparts from Sokoto and Lagos States respectively, Hon. Aminu Waziri Tambuwal and Mr. Babakode Sanwo-Olu for the battle of who becomes the first-ever Digital Governor to emerge in the National Information Technology Merit Awards (NITMA), reports ITREALMS.
NITMA, hosted by the Nigeria Computer Society (NCS) as the umbrella association of IT professionals, interest groups and stakeholders in Nigeria’s tech sector, towards advancing and accelerating IT development in Nigeria.
Disclosing this to ITREALMS, the National President, Prof. Sodiya was accompanied by NCS Deputy President, Dr. Mohammad Sirajo Aliyu, chairman of organizing committee for NITMA 2020, Mr. Femi Williams and Executive Secretary, Iyiola Ayola; said three governors passed the initial nominations and are now on the scale of voting by Nigerians especially members of NCS.

According to Sodiya, the Digital Governor of the year award, would be NCS reward for tremendous use and application of IT in governance to deserving executive Governors.
“Nominees for this prestigious award are Mr. Babajide Sanwolu, Executive Governor of Lagos State, Hon. Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, Executive Governor, Sokoto State and Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, Executive Governor, Delta State,” he declared.
Also on ‘IT Gold Merit Award’ Prof. Sodiya told ITREALMS that this award is going to Dr. Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami, the Honourable Minister of Communications and Digital Economy for his innovative ideas towards moving IT to the next level.
“Other individuals and organizations will be recognized and honoured with Special Recognition Awards for their undeniable and huge contributions in the IT and related areas,” he said.

The winner, Prof. Sodiya said would be pronounced on Thursday, 26 November during the 2020 NITMA award, billed for MUSON Centre, Onikan Lagos.
