ICPC tracks 722 constituency projects - ITREALMS

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has tracked some 722 constituency projects across the country, reports ITREALMS.


According to the phase 2 interim report of Constituency and Executive Projects Tracking Initiative (CEPTi) made available to ITREALMS by ICPC, the 722 projects selected for tracking within the focal sectors of education, water resources, agriculture, power and health.

Confirming this to ITREALMS at a media roundtable, the chairman of ICPC, Prof. Bolaji Owasanoye, said these comprised of 232 executive and 490 constituency projects respectively.

"These projects were awarded to different contractors owing to the spread and locations," he said.

As of date, Prof. Owasanoye said ICPC has the value of total recoveries made so far at N857,043,108.74.

This, he also said, cuts across total cash recovery of N174,974,275.5, while assets recovered stood at N682,068,833.24.

Further breakdown of the projects, ITREALMS gathered, showed that the total appropriation for all the selected projects, was worth N28,741,647,717.60.

Meanwhile, Kwara State led on top-5 states tracked on phase 2 under the 2020 budget with 245, followed by Cross River with 76, Gombe 32, Kebbi 25, Ogun 20, and Delta 19.

ICPC was elated to shared that one of the positive outcomes of the Commission’s Constituency and Executive Projects Tracking initiative in the 2nd phase of the exercise was that some runaway contractors who either abandoned the projects or executed the projects shoddily returned to sites to complete same or carry remediation works.

"These projects, with estimated total value of N2,255,187,086.78 are listed in Appendix 1," chairman who was accompanied by leadership of the commission including Head, Public Enlightenment, Mrs Azuka Ogugua among others, informed ITREALMS.
