Monday Holy Week B (March 29, 2021)
Your Daily Blessing: May God grant you grace to live a life of transparency and truth. Amen!
Read Is 42:1-7; John 12:1-11, pray Ps 26[25].
NARRATION: I have always marveled at the level of dishonesty in our dealings with one another. Parents recognize the truth about original sin once they observe the change in their little ‘innocent’ child as he/she begins to lie, steal cookies, and lie about it. If this is not properly handled, the child graduates from there to major vices. Truth telling therefore lies at the heart of character.
Neale D. Walsch’s insight into truth telling instructs us to counter our natural tendency to lie saying, “start telling the truth today and never stop. Begin by telling the truth to yourself about yourself. Then tell the truth to yourself about another. Then tell the truth about yourself to another. Then tell the truth about another to that other. Finally, tell the truth to everyone about everything.” He informs us that these “Five Levels of Truth Telling that leads to fivefold path to freedom. The truth shall set you free.”
Judas Iscariot was not telling the truth when he lamented about the oil that Mary ‘wasted’ when she anointed Jesus in today’s Gospel. He was supposedly concerned about the poor, but he was concerned about his purse.

Many times, we lie to ourselves and to others by what we say which only is a camouflage to what our true intent is. We should stop deceiving ourselves. Begin to tell the truth and never stop until you can consciously ‘believe’ in what you say as coming from your heart of hearts. That is when you begin to reflect Christ to others. He is the Truth and the Life. Once you begin to radiate truth and life, you live an authentic life. Until we reach this point, our life is like a big but empty show – a waste of time.
PRAYER: Dear Lord, we live in a world of gross deception and inauthenticity. Please shield me from being caught up in this web of deception. Grant me the grace to live by the truth at all times, to radiate the light to them that walk in the dark. Amen
