The Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-General Ibrahim Attahiru, reportedly died in an air crash this evening of Friday, May 21, 2021, while on an official trip to Kaduna, reports ITREALMS.
The plane was said to have crash-landed on the runway, with the 11 people on board feared dead including the Attahiru and 10 others.
ChannelTV.com also noted that the Nigerian Air Force confirmed the incident via a statement issued shortly after the crash.
NAF Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet, said the crash happened near the Kaduna International Airport.
“An air crash involving a @NigAirForce aircraft occurred this evening near the Kaduna International Airport. The immediate cause of the crash is still being ascertained. More details to follow soon,” he said.
