A consummate Information Technology (IT) practitioner and entrepreneur, Mr. Kole Jagun, has emerged the new President/Chairman of Council of Computer Professionals Registration Council of Nigeria (CPN), reports ITREALMS.
Until his election, Mr. Jagun was the immediate Past Vice–President and Vice-Chairman of CPN.
He would be taking over from the immediate past President/Chairman of the Council, Prof. Charles Uwadia.
According to the official election result released by the Chairperson of the CPN Electoral Committee 2021, Prof (Mrs.) Abimbola Soriyan, Mr. Jagun polled 260 votes, representing (70.3 per cent of the total votes cast) while the first runner up contender, Prof Afolayan Obiniyi polled 110 votes in the online election which held earlier on Thursday 6th May, 2021.
Dr. Eyo Effiong Essien, the only candidate for the post of the Vice – President/Vice-Chairman of Council polled 341 votes to be returned unopposed.
Dr. Essien, an astute academics, lectures in the Department of Computer Science, University of Calabar, Calabar.
ITREALMS recalls that CPN was established by Decree No. 49 of 1993, promulgated on June 10, and gazette on August 9, of same year as a body corporate with perpetual succession and common seal, a legal entity charged with the control and supervision of the Computing Profession in the country.
