NCC: Don’t force consumers to subscribe to voice mail - ITREALMS

ITREALMS ... making leadership SENSE with digital news!

The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has advised telecommunications consumers to only subscribe to any Value Added Services (VAS), especially the voice mail, cautioning mobile network operators of forceful subscription, reports
ITREALMS.
This advice was given by the Chief Executive and Executive Vice Chairman (EVC) of NCC, Prof. Umar Danbatta, over the weekend in a video clip available to ITREALMS, saying that some mobile network operators are now shortchanging subscribers mostly through alleged forceful subscription for voice mail.

He also stated the importance of Voice Mail services, but warned against forceful subscription.

“Of recent, we detected as one of the avenues some of the mobile network operators are shortchanging consumers. The Voice Mail Service is also a service that consumers can subscribe to and therefore, they should not be forced to subscribe to the service,” he maintained.

The EVC advised telecom consumers not to succumb to forceful subscriptions.

“Don’t be compel into buying an optional service you don’t want to,” he insisted.

Voice mail,
ITREALMS gathered, avails the electronic system for recording oral messages sent by telephone.

Industry experts described voice mail as typically; the caller hears a prerecorded message and then has an opportunity to leave a message in return. The person called can then retrieve the message at a later time by entering specific codes on his or her telephone.
