The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) on Saturday, June 12, join other well-meaning institutions and corporates in the celebration of the #DemocracyDay2021 in the country, reports ITREALMS.
NCC in its message to the populace, described Nigerians as resilient, creative and beautiful people.
ITREALMS gathered that one of the posters released as part of the commemoration of #democracyday2021, NCC, wished Nigerians "Happy Democracy Day! To the resilient, creative and beautiful people of Nigeria.”
In another #democracyday2021 poster, available to ITREALMS, NCC expressed hope and optimism that "The labour of our heroes past, shall never be in vain. To serve with heart and might ...."
ITREALMS recalls that in Nigeria, June 12 which has since become a national holiday is marked in commemoration of the adjudged most freest and fairest general election ever in the country which produced late business mogul, Chief Moshood Abiola as president but the election suffered set back with the cancellation by the General Ibrahim Babangida-led Military Government in 1993.
Also there was a national broadcast on June 12 morning by Mr. President, General Mohammadu Buhari retired, recollecting his administration’s resolve as part of the commemoration which led to the change the Democracy Day from 29th May to June 12th in his first tenure.
According to General Buhari, “it was not only to honour the sacrifices of the men and women of our country who fought for the return to democracy but also to demonstrate our commitment to satisfy the aspirations of the people and creating an environment for democracy to be an accepted way of life.”
