The Igbo women under the auspices of Credible Igbo Women Initiative (CIWI), has called on the Federal Government (FG) to take immediate actions to stop the killings and attacks meted out on the innocent youths in the South-East, reports ITREALMS.
Renowned singer, Onyeka Onwenu said there is need for all to shield their swords and embrace peace, through which the citizens can live in peace.
Onwenu also tasked the President, General Muhammadu Buhari, retired, to ensure a conducive environment for the generality of the people.
Equally speaking, a Nollywood Actor, Clarion Chukwurah decried the wanton killings in the South-East, which has left many women widows, lamenting that lives of youths are being wasted under the guise of getting rid of suspected members of Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).
In addition, she tasked General Buhari, to proffer solutions to the insecurity in the South East and the country as a whole.
Chukwurah reminded FG that the South-East was the inception of Nollywood into the country, therefore the Igbo youths should not be used as a sacrificial lamb to cleanse the lands.
Describing as unfortunate that FG through the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) would order the killings of the Igbo youths, under the "shoot at sight" order, insisting that Ndigbo loves and lives for peace.
The CIWI Co-Convener, Mrs Oby Okeke, in her remarks, vehemently condemned the activities in Igboland of both known and unknown gunmen, arsonist and brigands whose actions have created a civil unrest.
She stated categorically that Igbo youths are not involved in any unrest and those who may be involved are not acting under the Ndigbo authority.
Further, the Convener, pointed out that the Igbo market men and women have suffered greatly with the constant total closure of their markets and shops in the hands of security forces.

Mrs. Okeke also advised FG to take urgent actions toward restoring peace in Igboland and Nigeria as a whole.
