AUDA-NEPAD, ECA to renew MoU - ITREALMS

The African Union Development Agency-NEPAD (AUDA-NEPAD) and the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (ECA), have concluded plans to renew the memorandum of understanding (MoU) between them, reports 
ITREALMS.

This, ITREALMS gathered is to guide their future working relationship in the interest of harnessing synergies arising from their mandates and enhancing partnership and collaboration in a more structured and systematic manner, will issue a memorandum of understanding to guide their future working relationship.
Also, 
ITREALMS gathered that the purpose of this MOU billed for Wednesday, is to facilitate cooperation and collaboration between the parties to ensure effective cooperation in areas of mutual interest.

Further, ITREALMS gathered the main objective of this MOU are to implement a joint work programme for the period 2021-2023 in six broad priority areas of their respective mandate and function. Another major objective is to build resilience for sustainable development in Africa as per Agenda 2063 and Agenda 2030; and to explore any strategic initiatives that might not be part of ongoing mandate but justified by the importance of unexpected events in line with the broad priority areas.

The six priority areas that the parties will focus on are the following:
Climate resilience and governance, environmental sustainability and natural resources management;
Sustainable energy, nexus energy-water-food and empowerment of rural communities;
Knowledge management and evaluation, and human and institutional development;
Science, technology and innovation;
Economic integration, macroeconomics and governance policy; and
Wealth Creation and industrialisation.

The MOU will be signed by the CEO of AUDA-NEPAD, Dr Ibrahim Mayaki and the UN Under Secretary-General and Executive Secretary of ECA, Dr Vera Songwe.
