The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has declared the governorship election in Anambra State at the weekend, inconclusive, reports ITREALMS.
INEC stated this in Awka on Sunday, November7, and ordered a supplementary election to be conducted in Ihiala Local Government Area of Anambra state on Tuesday, November 9, before a winner will emerge.
The INEC Returning Officer for the election and vice chancellor of University of Calabar, Prof. Florence Obi, disclosed this saying that the suspension of collation of result at INEC State Headquarters in Awka, early Monday morning.
Also, she said that the Commission will not make any declaration until Ihiala LGA results, with 323 Polling Units and 148,407 registered voters are harvested in accordance with the Electoral Law.
Before declaring the election inconclusive, Obi had read out the total results from 20 out of 21 LGAs already declared, stating that APGA amassed a total of 103,946 votes to lead other parties.
Meanwhile, ITREALMS gathered that the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, garnered a total of 51,322 votes to place second; the All Progressive Congress, APC, came third with a total of 42,942 while the Young Progressive Party, YPP, got 20,917 in that order at press time.
