The Nigeria Internet Registration Association (NIRA) has explained why it have to crash prices on the dot NG domain names, reports ITREALMS.President of NIRA, Mr. Muhammed Rudman made this disclosure to ITREALMS in Lagos, declaring that eventually its to improve the visibility of Nigerian businesses online.
On the latest slashing of price, Rudman said that the price of a dot ng (.ng) domain at the second level was reduced by about 40 per cent, while the price of com.ng and others at the third level was reduced marginally.
He told
ITREALMS that the review would make dot NG domains to be more affordable, allowing more organizations and individuals to obtain their national ID online (.ng), ultimately improving the visibility of Nigerian businesses online.
Rudman revealed that NIRA’s target audience includes all Nigerians and foreigners who are interested in dot ng (.ng) domains, but we are especially interested in Nigerian businesses.
NIRA president maintained that before the recent government pronouncement on usage of dot.NG by the Federal, Ministries, Departments and Agencies (FMDAs).
Stressing that NiRA has been planning the price reduction since last year.
The fact that they were announced so close together is purely coincidental,” he said.
Rudman expressed optimism that though they believed the government pronouncement will contribute to the adoption of.ng domains, therefore it is a positive development.
He enjoined Nigerians to replicate NIRA gesture by registering .NG domains.
