A Catholic priest, Rev. Fr. Augustine Ebido, has urged Nigerians to focus on the powers of the risen Jesus Christ as they celebrate the Easter, reports ITREALMS.
Fr. Ebido in his Easter Sunday message made available to ITREALMS at St. Jude’s Catholic Church, Mafoluku-Oshodi, Lagos, entitled “The Lord is risen” noted that today Nigerians especially Christians celebrate Easter, which comes out of a gory story when compared with individual human experiences could best be described as insignificant.
According to him, the story of “Good Friday” is a cosmic relief for all individual “bad Fridays.”
“It is a cosmic relief because it transforms our individual bad Fridays into something we learn to celebrate overtime, drawing strength from the reality of the resurrection itself,” he said.
The Catholic priest who is a member of Order of Preachers (OP), also said that though individual difficult experiences may have come a long way with its attendant impact on human beings, but humanity could do better when these difficulties are reflected upon based on Jesus’ experience leading to his death on death.
“We are all broken by our individual bad experiences; we are never overcome by them if we keep focusing on that power that raised Jesus from his grave. We too will in no time find our own Easter Sunday morning,” he advised.
Fr. Ebido further counseled all still sulking from their difficult experiences, to look up not just at the cross on which they may seem helpless, “but take a peep at the empty grave.”
He further prayed for Christians to focus on the power of resurrection when despondent.
