The former governornof Anambra State, Mr. Peter Obi, has emerged the presidential candidate of the Labour Party of Nigeria for the 2023 elections, reports ITREALMS.
Obi emerged unopposed today, Monday afternoon, May 30, 2022, during the party’s National Convention, held at Orchid Hotel, Asaba, Delta State.
This is coming as the presidential hopeful for the party hitherto Prof Pat Utomi stepped down for Mr Obi.
Utomi's gesture, according to sources was seen as an opportunity for Obi to govern this country.
A minor crisis had loomed weekend in the Labour Party following the entrance of Mr Obi, hours after resigning from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
ITREALMS recalls that Obi, who resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Wednesday, sooner proclaimed his switch to Labour Party on Friday evening.
He also beckoned Nigerians, especially the youth, to join forces with him in the new party.
