Former Governor of Anambra State, Mr. Peter Gregory Obi has resigned his membership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), just as he withdrew from the presidential contest, reports ITREALMS.Obi in a letter of resignation to the National Chairman of the PDP, Wadata Plaza Abuja, dated May 24, 2022 and personally signed by him and made available to ITREALMS, he said his resignation has been conveyed to his ward chairman at Agulu Ward 2, Anaocha Local Government Area of Anambra State, effective, Friday, May 20, 2022.
"Consequently, I am by this letter informing you of my withdrawal for the PDP Presidential primaries," he said.
Part of the letter read:
"It has been a great honour to contribute to nation-building efforts through our party.
"Unfortunately, recent developments within our party made it practically impossible to continue participating and making such construdtive contributions.
"Our national challenges are deep-seated and require that we each make profound sacrifices towards rescuing our country.
"My commitment to rescuing Nigeria remains firm, even if the route differs.
"I wish to thank you personally for your graciousness and leadership. I wish you well and best of luck in the service of country."

Meanwhile, political sources have commended Obi's decision, alleging that he may join the New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP) or Labour Party as their party presidential party
