The Alliance for Affordable Internet (A4AI) Nigeria Coalition has advanced plans for it latest meeting in July at the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja, reports ITREALMS.
The coalition meeting scheduled to hold on Thursday, July 7 at Sheraton Abuja Hotel would be on the theme: ‘Advancing Meaningful Connectivity for an Inclusive Digital Economy.’
A public statement available to ITREALMS, showed that the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Dr. Isa Ali Pantami has been invited to give the keynote address.
The National Coordinator for A4AI in Nigeria, Mr. Olusola Teniola and Head of Africa operations at A4AI Ms Onica N. Makwakwa would lead in the welcome address, opening remarks and introductions.
ITREALMS gathered, there would be a multisectoral panel on ‘Meaningful Connectivity in Nigeria.’
Also, ITREALMS gathered, there would be an opening presentation on ‘Perspectives on Regulatory Environment for Meaningful Connectivity and an Inclusive Digital Economy’ by the Executive Vice Chairman (EVC), Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Prof. Umar Danbatta.
In addition, there would be a panel, on Quality & Internet Speed by NCC; Device Affordability by Chidi Okonkwo of Transsion; Rural Broadband Connectivity, Sade Dada, Facebook; Universal Access by the Universal Service Provision Fund (USPF); and Digital Skills by Paradigm Initiative, while Olusola Teniola, A4AI-Nigeria National Coordinator would moderate the session.
Equally, another panel on “Current Affairs: Policy and Regulatory Challenges to Affordable Access” to be moderated by the Barr. Chukwuyere Izuogu, the Champion of Infrastructure, Open Access & Spectrum Working Group of A4AI, would include speakers like a representative from the Association of Telecommunications Companies of Nigeria (ATCON) dwelling on Taxation.
This panel, ITREALMS gathered would see discussants from Facebook, community network and device manufacturers charting the way forward on ‘Affordable Access and Devices - New Models for Connecting.”
Just as the National Association of Telecoms Subscribers representing the consumer association to dissect “Consumer pricing of telecommunications services.”
Further, ITREALMS gathered that there would be another session on ‘Minding the Gaps: Plans that Leave No One Behind with a presentation on Cost of Exclusion by Busayo Obisakin, a member of A4AI-Nigeria Coalition.
There would be a Coalition breakout sessions across “Infrastructure, Open Access & Spectrum - Broadband & Device Affordability, Consumer Awareness and Protection, with a report back and plans for next 6 months per working group focused on priorities and activities to be facilitated by Olusola Teniola, A4AI-Nigeria National Coordinator.
