The Nigeria’s much talked about third force, the Labour Party (LP) may mess up the chances its opportunity in the forthcoming general elections if it fails to redesign its official logo.

A section of political watchers, informed ITREALMS that inability to redesign Labour Party logo formally for the 2023 general elections may cause the party to loose the elections and therefore cause the current ‘OBIdient and be Yusuful’ movement to the presidency and untold setback.

According to some school of thoughts, on the ballot paper, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), will only have Labour Party logo without Labour Party written anywhere near the logo and therefore a shot on one’s foot.

ITREALMS gathered that presently, the Labour Party logo only has inscription ‘Forward Ever’ instead of the party name like others, especially the main two oppositions.

A closer look at the logos of the likes of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) showed that both have their party names as in abbreviations on the logos boldly and then repeated below the logo.

Another school of thoughts posited that this lack of projection by the Labour Party logo may be costly if not redesigned as soon as possible, mostly before the electioneering campaign kicks off formally in the coming weeks according to INEC schedule which is expected on September 28th 2022.

They insisted that if the Labour Party logo is left as it is with ‘Forward Ever’ a lot of people could be confused as there is no party with such a name, thereby complicating issues for uninformed voting public.

ITREALMS also gathered that the Labour Party is a social democratic political party in Nigeria, created in 20 years ago and was previously known as the Party for Social Democracy (PSD) before changing its name to the Labour Party, with Barrister Julius Abure as the current National Chairman.

Given the avalanche of volunteer supporters who have since began to design various campaign materials on their own and at their own cost too, one thinks that a call for appropriate logo design that could be also open to be voted for among the increasing members and supporters of Labour Party, will be a good start for the populace engagement, without giving anyone ‘shi-shi’ as evident in recent times and thereby deepening the supporters sense of belonging and making a digital sense.

A stitch in time, is said to save nine.
