The pioneer Bishop of Ekwulobia diocese in Anambra State, Nigeria, Bishop Peter Okpaleke has finally been enthroned as a Cardinal of the Catholic Church in Vatican City, Rome on Saturday, August 27, 2022, reports ITREALMS.
The famous Nigerian Catholic Bishop reputed for being literally 'rejected' by the diocese of Ahiara, Imo State, forcing him to resign and was later reappointed as Bishop of Ekwulobia Diocese.
The enthronement Cardinal Peter attracted notable personalities from Anambra State led by the Governor, Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo, who earlier broadcasting to the Ndi Anambra on this year's anniversary on the state creation from the Vatican City.

The dignitaries included the Google-rated most popular Nigerian politician in the forthcoming 2023 General Elections, Mr. Peter Obi, among others.
ITREALMS recalled that on May 29, 2022, the Catholic Pontif, Pope Francis had proclaimed Bishop Okpalaeke and 20 others as Cardinal-designate.
With his enthronement, Cardinal Peter becomes the forth living Nigerian Catholic Cardinals and adds to the growing College of Cardinals to 229 with 131 of them being electors.

With his enthronement, Cardinal Peter becomes the forth living Nigerian Catholic Cardinals and adds to the growing College of Cardinals to 229 with 131 of them being electors.
Also, ITREALMS recalled that Cardinal Peter’s inability to take canonical possession at the diocese of Ahiara, he resigned in 2018. Two years later, the diocese of Ekwulobia was created on 5 March 2020 and then Bishop Okpaleke was appointed the first Bishop.
