The E-waste Producer Responsibility Organization of Nigeria (EPRON) is partnering SLOT offices in Lagos for a month-long collection scheme of small electronic waste in commemoration of 2022 international E-Waste Day (IEWD), reports ITREALMS.
The Executive Secretary, E-waste Producer Responsibility Organization of Nigeria (EPRON), Ibukun Faluyi, said Thursday in Lagos that they also plan to host stakeholders to a virtual session on Friday, October 14, 2022 by 11am.She said, EPRON is partnering SLOT alongside some UN agencies on the collection, including the United Nations Information Centres (UNIC), United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), International Labour Organisation (ILO), Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) and Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA).
Also, she said that the collection of small e-waste items, include mobile phones, pointers mouse, torches, chargers, earpieces to name a few, through SLOT outlets in Lagos State from October 1- 30, 2022.
“The response has been quite exciting and interesting,” she said.
“We warmly invite you to please be part of that important celebration,” she asserted.
Also, ITREALMS gathered that the programme, has been scheduled to hold from 11.00am WAT to 1.05 pm tomorrow: Friday October 14, 2022 on Zoom.

According to her, “It promises to be a very informative as the three registered formal recyclers in Nigeria will be placing the spotlight on small waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE), highlighting the best management practice to adopt for them and our role in achieving circularity for these items.”
