Speaking through the council’s Deputy Metropolitan Grand Knight (DMGK), Sir Nosa Ehigiator, at St Leo Catholic Church Ikeja, Lagos, during the admission of some new members, at the weekend, charged them to embrace the journey with the total resolve to support the Church and humanity with three Tees.
He listed the three ‘T’ at the opening remarks, to include talent, the treasure and time, stressing that nobody gets anything except it is given to him by God.

“Therefore, everything given to you by God is for use of spreading the Gospel and supporting humanity,” he said.

The DMGK also urged the council and especially new members on the need for regular personal audit of their growth profile in terms of knowledge of God, the Church and the order.

“Like a little Child, you must be seen to be growing daily otherwise; your membership of the Order becomes questionable. You will learn to act by your deeds rather than what you say; you must embrace the Order with great level of selflessness,” he enjoined.

Commending the new members including Remmy Nweke, Chris Onumonu and Louis Iwule of Isolo Sub-council among 42 others, for stepping up on their resolve to serve God through the Order, DMGK prayed that “God will grant you all the enablement to live the dictates of this new and beautiful office.”
Equally welcoming new members in his remarks, the Grand Metropolitan Knight, Sir Don Eze enjoined them to join forces in defending the Church and Catholic faith by ensuring that the right doctrine is passed on from generation to generation.

Giving the historical background of the Order, Sir Nosa noted that KSM Nigeria was established on the 14th of June, 1953 by Rev. Fr. Anslem Isidahome Ojefua, with the name, the Order of the Knights of Blessed Mulumba, based on the principles of Catholic Actions and modelled after the sacred Order of Catholic Knighthood.

He pointed out that the Order with headquarters in Onitsha, Anambra State, was renamed Knights of Saint Mulumba in 1964 after the martyrs of Uganda amongst whom was Saint Mulumba were declared Saints by Pope Benedict XV, emphasizing that the Order was founded in reaction to negative colonial practices over 14 years as at the time of the formation.

Fr. Ojefua, a monk, he said was encouraged by Bishop Joseph Whelan of Owerri who shared the constitution of Knights of Columbus of America with him with the first set of 23 admitted after the approval of the Archbishop Heerey of Onitsha, Bishop Kelly of Benin as well as the Catholic Bishops Conference of Nigeria (CBCN).

The first-ever 23 elite candidates, DMGK said, were drawn from Owerri, Onitsha and Benin which took place at the Holy Ghost College Chapel Owerri.
