The Lagos State Market Advisory Council (LASMAC) has announced an interval closures for various markets in the state, to enable traders to collect their Permanent Voter Card (PVC), reports ITREALMS.
“We thereby resolved that there will be a staggered closure of some major markets to enable the traders to collect their PVC,” he said.
Ukatu also said that in pursuant to this, LASMAC leadership has approved scheduled dates for the closure of the markets.
ITREALMS gathered that as at Monday, January 23, phone dealers at Lawanson closed for business, while Tuesday, January 24 would see their counterparts at Ladipo Market and environs to shut businesses for their PVCs.
LASMAC equally said that on Wednesday 25th January, it would be the turn of traders at the Trade Fair Complex, Abule Ado building materials market., and Article Dealers market are to be closed for business for the sake of preparing traders for next month elections.
On Thursday 26th January, LASMAC informed that traders at RADA Lawanson, Intercontinental Carpet Dealers at Itire Lawanson to shut their shops, likewise the Agric Coker building material dealers, Coker building materials, Odun Ade international market, Marble dealers as well as the fire fighting equipment dealers among others.
Further, Ukatu said that traders should note all market leaders are to warn their members to be civil, stressing that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has made arrangement possible for ease of collection of PVCs.
“It's your civic right to have your PVC,” he said, insisting that collection of PVC is responsibility of citizens to sustain democracy and improve governance.
“We thank His Excellency Gov Babajide Sanwo-Olu for equally declaring 4 days staggered work free day to enable civil servants to collect their PVC too.
“Together we shall build a greater nation,” Ukatu said.
