The Lagos State Advocacy Team (SAT) under the Global Fund Project has met with some community leaders of Mosan Okunola, seeking collaboration of residents with government to provide basic amenities at the Primary Healthcare Centre (PHC) in the area, for the betterment of the people, reports ITREALMS.
As outlined by ACMIN, State Coordinator and Team Lead for SAT, Mrs Bunmi Tejumola, during a recent visit to Aregbesola Primary Healthcare Centre (PHC) Egbeda in Mosan Okunola Local Council Development Area (LCDA) of Alimosho Local Government Area.
The group raised some concerns including non-functional ambulance due to mechanical fault, faulty Mikano (heavy-duty) generator and inadequate cleaners at the health centre.
Tejumola, on behalf of Lagos SAT appealed for more community involvement as stakeholders in partnering with government for sustainable services as a direct beneficiary of the health care services.
Speaking with the community head and Baale of Egbeda, High Chief Tajudeen Fasinro, the Lagos SAT delegation enjoined the community to liase with the people in contributing their own quota to the development of the healthcare centre by providing an "inverter" as an alternative power supply, and getting capable hands as cleaner as well as fast-track fixing of the ambulance.
She equally advised the community head to seize electioneering period as a good opportunity in making the political campaigners to contribute tangibly to the PHC in the area.
In his response,the community head of Mosan Okunola Community, High Chief Tajudeen Fasinro pointed out that the present economic downturn has drastically affected the financial commitment of the people.
"It is not that the people are not aware of the issues raised at the healthcare centre, but the current economy affects the rich as well, which made it difficult to approach some philanthropists for assistance on community projects" he said.
However, Fasinro promised to liaise with the CDA chairman for a positive response in regards to the issues raised for prompt attention.
