After days of undecided, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Wednesday afternoon declared the governorship election results for Abia State, with the Labour Party (LP) candidate, Dr. Alex Otti, emerging as a winner, reports ITREALMS.
This came after a melodramatic collation of results for the state’s governorship election since Saturday, March 18, 2023.
Otti was therefore declared the winner.
ITREALMS gathered that Dr. Alex Otti, Labour Party candidate emerged victorious. He garnered a total 175,467 votes to defeat his closest rival, PDP’s Okey Ahiwe, who polled 88,529 votes.
The 58-year Otti, ITREALMS also gathered, is a Nigerian economist, banker, investor, philanthropist and politician.
Before becoming the governor-elect of Abia State in Nigeria, he was the former Group Managing Director of Diamond Bank Plc, a retail financial institution in Nigeria and was a graduate of the University of Lagos (UNILAG).
Further, ITREALMS gathered that Dr. Otti was born on 18 February 1965, and is married to Mrs Priscilla Otti, who would now become the first lady of Abia State.
