CivicHive denies political affiliation over live results, silent on Feb 20th - ITREALMS

The owners of liversults.civichive.org has sufficed on the wide world web with a press statement denouncing claims that it was instrumental to the manipulation of the just concluded 2023 presidential elections, insisting that live election portal was not politically affiliated, reports

CivicHive is owned by BudgIT Nigeria, and in a press statement on Twitter, noted that its an entity which is not and has never been funded by either a government agency or political structure, but was silent on the Ekiti result dated February 20th that was in tandem with what was announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

"We reject slanderous words about our people and processes," said Temidayo Musa, the Project Lead, RoadMap to 2023 Election Project who endorsed the press statement.

Musa also said they are committed to the principles of open data, and improving citizens' participation in progressive governance and data transparency.

"Hence, we launched our one-of-a-king, 2-in-1 platform - Roadmap to 2023 Election; to aid voters' education and involvement in the electoral process.

Stressing that they want citizens to have unhindered access and understanding of how governance work, and the changes we can create together.

Musa also pointed out that their attention has been drawn to different unscrupulous publications, tweets nad messags by some elements making unfounded claims and unreasonable assumptions about their work, operations and team.

"CivicHive as an entity is not and has never been funded by either a government agency or political structure," alleging those churning out slanderous words about them is bidding to shrink civic spaces.

Their approach, Musa said, in result collation was to work with credible grassroots organiations with an officer at each of the LGA collation centres to have quicker access to results.

Indeed, the situation room of the CivicHive election results collation started at 07:00 hours on Sunday, February 26, and accessible to the general public weeks before the elections.

"The essence of this portal is to show the trend of cumulative results that keeps the citizens informed and not in any way an official platform for INEC to declare the results of the elections," Musa said.

CivicHive, however silent on the Ekiti presidential result that was time-stamped February 20, 2023, which was a five-day ahead of the election whereas its result matched what INEC delivered on Sunday evening among others.

The result CivicHive uploaded on Ebonyi on Sunday evening was still be further analyzed as at the time of this report.
