INEC declares Bola Ahmed Tinubu, winner of 2023 presidential election - ITREALMS

ITREALMS ... making leadership SENSE with digital news!

In the early hours of Wednesday, March 1, 2023, the Independent National Electoral Commission ((INEC) has declared the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu (BAT), as the winner of the 2023 presidential election held last Saturday in Nigeria, reports
ITREALMS.
This is coming barely four days after the Saturday elections, largely reported to have been marred by threats, snatching and burning of ballot boxes and suspected manipulations of the Bimodal Voters Accreditation System (BVAS), with some of the major parties calling for cancellation of the presidential polls.

INEC Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, while declaring Tinubu winner of the polls in the early hours of Wednesday at the International Collation Centre in Abuja, said the former Lagos State Governor secured 8,794,726 votes to emerge.

Yakubu also said that the former Vice President Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) got 6,984,520 votes whereas the Labour Party, Mr. Peter Obi garnered 6,101,533 votes, just as the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Alhaji Rabiu Kwankwaso, scored 1,496,687 votes.

According to him, Tinubu, Abubakar and Obi all won 12 States, including the Federal Capital Territory, while Kwankwaso won only one State.

“That Tinubu Bola Ahmed of the APC, having satisfied the requirements of the law is hereby declared the winner and returned elected,” Yakubu declared.
