The Civil Society for Malaria Control, Immunization and Nutrition (ACOMIN) has held its state dissemination meeting in Lagos with focus on the Grant Cycle 7 (GC7), reports ITREALMS.
Arising from the meeting held last Tuesday, the coordinator of ACOMIN, Mrs. Bunmi Tejumola said the session would help the coalition in the state to get well positioned towards improving treatment of malaria and associated ailments.
She also said, they would work at increasing community participation in the development of country specific requests to ensure that grant cycle 7 is successful.
This, she said, would make the goal of eliminating malaria in the society, especially in Nigeria, a reality.
She recalled that a national stakeholders session was held earlier with participants selected from across the 31 States with ACOMIN ensuring that they are the stakeholders with a deep understanding of the malaria response at the community levels, especially in states where ACOMIN works.
According to her, the selected participants were to ensure the quality of discussions that will meet the unwavering commitment of the Global Fund to meaningfully engage and partner with diverse communities in decision-making and processes directly touching their health, including those living with and most impacted by malaria.
ITREALMS recalled that a total of 413 persons participated across the six geo-political zones of Nigeria, these include malaria focused community leaders, religious leaders, and Executive Directors of Community-Based Organizations working in Malaria control and youth-led and youth-focused organizations, faith-based organizations which include 102 from South West, 105 from South-South and South East, 68 from the North East, 59 from the North West and 79 from the North Central, as well as six ACOMIN national staff and a consultant.
This dissemination meeting was attended by the core members of the coalition, traditional rulers and community-based organisations and religious group.
