The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has called on the Inspector-General of Police to immediately investigate and possible prosecute its Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) for Adamawa State, Barr. Hudu Yunusa Ari, reports ITREALMS.
Ari, ITREALMS recalled had on Sunday, April 16, 2023, purportedly declared the result for the Adamawa State Governorship election in favour of the All Progressive Congress (APC) candidate, Senator Aisha Binani, who has since gone to court to halt further election result.
INEC arising from its meet on Tuesday, barely 24 hours after INEC the Commission withdrew its delegated powers from Barr. Hudu Yunusa Ari, the Commission decided to:
"1. Write to the Inspector-General of Police for the immediate investigation and possible prosecution of the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) for Adamawa State, Barr. Hudu Yunusa Ari.
2. Request the Secretary to the Government of the Federation to draw the attention of the appointing authority to the unwholesome behaviour of the REC for further action.
3. The collation process shall resume at a time to be determined by the Returning Officer."
