The President, Internet Society (ISOC) Nigeria chapter, Mr Caleb Ogundele has been elected into the global ISOC Board for Trustees (BoT) a three-year term, reports ITREALMS.
Ogundele was elected under the chapter alongside Ramanou Biaou, former president, ISOC Benin.
Confirming this to ITREALMS, the 2023 Elections Committee Chair and member, Internet Society Board of Trustees, Mr. Luis Martinez, said ISOC was pleased to announce the final results of the 2023 elections, the IETF selection for the Board of Trustees, and the Board of Trustees appointee.
Voting, he said, was concluded on 14 April, while the challenge period was opened on 17 April.
"The deadline to file challenges was 24 April at 15:00 UTC. No challenges were filed. Therefore, the election results announced on 17 April stand," he declared.
Equally, ITREALMS gathered that in the organization members election, Ted Hardie was re-elected to a 3-year term.
ITREALMS also gathered that following the process documented in RFC 3677, the Internet Architecture Board (IAB) had re-selected Laura Thomson on behalf of the Internet Engineering Task Force to serve on the Internet Society board for a 3-year term.
According to Marteniz, in accordance with Article II, Section 1. (d) of the Amended and Restated By-Laws of the Internet Society and as further outlined in Resolution 2023-5, Olufunke Baruwa was appointed to a 3-year term by the Board of Trustees.
The terms for all five trustees will commence with the Internet Society Board of Trustees 2023 Annual General Meeting in June.
